"An audience is an important part of the experiment.
I want to see if our format of play is conducive to an entertaining
experience. This is why I am hoping for a good turn out of people who
might just want to come to watch. Our plan is to have every fighter fight
every other fighter in a series of quick three point bouts to determine
placement in the round robin. Nobody is eliminated during this round. This
gives everybody a chance to watch everybody else fight and gives the
audience a chance to know who is favored and who is not. The top spots
from these rounds play the bottom spots. Since these bouts will make up
the majority of the day it is fun and educational for the fighters of
lower levels as they get to fight a lot without loosing.
The middle bouts are five point bouts and are done in
round robin fashion winners move on and losers drop out. Fighters will
want to win in the preliminaries in order to fight the easier guys to
ensure their chances in this round. It also adds a "terminal" nature to
this set which I think will be very entertaining.
The winners of the middle rounds square off in a
series of seven point bouts to determine the ultimate winner.
There will be lots of bouts and the winners will have
to be in good shape so as not to be too tired in the final rounds.
So as a fighter, you will have fight around eight
short three point rounds, you will then have to fight to continue in a
five point "winner moves on" bout and then you will have to fight two
bouts to seven points to win the entire thing.
Lots of quick preliminary bouts will keep things
flowing and be fun for all as you cannot be eliminated only placed lower
in the ranks for the middle bouts . the five point rounds will be very
exciting as people are eliminated from competition and the finals will be
like watching a boxing match between the best fighters.
This format allows for lots of participation by
members of all levels but is slanted to allow the better fighters to rise
to the top allowing for some great drama. The finals bout must be won by
two points. This seemingly innocent rule can really play havoc as bouts
that go on for a long time can be as exhausting as they are exciting to
watch."
