I am watching this film on Spike TV right
now and I forgot how classic this film is.
It is so cheesy it works, and if you can
be patient enough through the wooden acting and the fact that it is not
Bruce Lee playing himself throughout most of the film then it really pays
off. Besides, half the fun is watching how the editors cut around
the Bruce "lookalike" Lee and film footage from his previous movies to try
and make a cohesive story. It works, barely.
The final fight scenes as he battles the
different levels & masters of different styles are truly rousing.
Though the filmmaking and choreography is pretty basic by today's
standards, you cannot deny Bruce Lee's skill, and the "lack" of fast
editing allows you to actually see his technique.
As a piece of cinematic history how can
you beat the scene when Bruce Lee fights Kareem Abdul Jabar. This is
worth the price of admission alone.
Go rent this film now young grasshopper,
then run to your nearest Dojo and sign up for a few classes, 'cause
nothing inspires like a good Bruce Lee flick.
The man is Legend.
